Over the span of my lifetime, I have drawn some conclusions about life and adopted a philosophy that permeates the creative side of my nature.
I believe that some common threads unite humans, while others, like our need to control or to have power over others, drive us apart.
The duality of our existence provides a spectrum of human emotions and reactions; these are a part of the human fabric, basic and fundamental to each of us. Our confident, positive side is nurturing and loving, and can be seen in our devotion to children, to love, the warmth of friendship, our need to share, our ability to give, to serve, to help. And our insecure side, rooted in fear and feelings of powerlessness, is revealed in anger, vanity, pride, hate, our need to dominate, to control, and to act out in negative, destructive ways.
This duality is intriguing, and a fertile spring to explore.
These common threads inspire me to create visuals that evoke a recognition of our kinship with one another.
This is my goal as an artist.
